The Soft Melody

"Madison Taylor will now play a lovely song she, herself, wrote." Madison stood up. She scanned the audience looking for two important people. To the right of the theater in the fourth row were Sakura and Li. Sakura gave her a reassuring smile. Madison took a deep breath. This was an important night. Madison has been given a chance to play her very own song in front of a huge group of people. Madison has learned to play the piano and as well as making movies and designing outfits, Madison also gives piano shows (and even sings sometimes.) Madison put a sheet of paper on the stand, sat down and began to play. Madison's fingers fly over the keys as she forgets all her worries and gives in to the music. Sakura and Li were very impressed, as were others in the room. Madison's song was so beautiful. Sakura is very proud of her best friend and thinks how lucky she is to be Madison's b.f.

After Madison's wonderful performance Sakura and Li hurry back stage to see Madison. "Madison that was great!" Sakura said nearing her friend. "Thank you so much. I'm just glad you were able to make it. I honestly thought you would be too busy with your job to make it." Madison smiled. "I wouldn't miss this for the world! I would love to have the musical talent you have!" Sakura is a reporter, and is very busy. "That was a nice show Madison." Li said. "Thank you Li. Sakura, can I talk to you? You can come too Li" Madison lead them to her dressing room.

"Sakura, I'm going to have to move." Madison said. "What?" Sakura asked a little surprised. "I'm shooting my next movie in America and putting on my next fashion show there. I have also been asked to do a few piano shows there. I'm going to have to leave Japan and move there. I'll be leaving next week." Madison said. Madison's mother already lives in America. She moved to New York a few years ago. Sakura was so surprised, it wasn't exactly the best news. Madison was her best friend, they've been friends since they were small. Sakura didn't feel so well. But she wasn't sick, just really upset. Li could tell Sakura was sad, and decided to brake the awkward silence, "That's great! You've got a 2 in 1 deal!" Sure Li sort of sounded like an idiot, but Madison didn't concentrate on that. Instead she was looking at Sakura. She could tell Sakura was hurt and Madison was upset to have to leave to. This was her best friend, hometown and now she had to leave it all, her life. But this was her big brake. This movie was really big, and it was Madison's dream to sing, and play the piano for others. Plus this fashion show had drawn in a big crowd. She couldn't give up a deal like this. Plus she could move in and take care of her mother.

They all said good night and then left. Sakura wore a fake smile, but you could see it in her eyes. She was sad. Li walked Sakura back to her apartment. "Sakura, I know you're upset," Li started, but Sakura interrupted him. "I'm not upset! What do you mean?" Sakura said smiling. Li frowned, "I know you. Don't try to hide your feelings. You're upset, because Madison is leaving." Li looked Sakura in the eye, "Can you honestly tell me that the fact your best friends is leaving doesn't bother you?" Sakura pulled away. "Of course I'm upset, pointing that out doesn't help you know! I have to go, good night Li!" And with that Sakura slammed her door in Li's face. Li sighed and went home.

The next day it was raining. Grey clouds covered the sky, lightning flashed and thunder boomed. Sakura sat in front of her computer staring at it blankly. "This article is due next weekend." Sakura sighed and went over to her window. She sat down at stared out at the world below. It may seem like Sakura was over reacting and being to sensitive, but she had a good reason. Sakura thought she would be Madison's friend forever, be with her forever. Just as she thought her mother Natasha would be with her forever. Sakura felt as if she was loosing Madison just like she lost her mother when she was younger.

Outside Li was standing under his umbrella in the rain. He looked up at Sakura staring out her window. "Sakura," Li sighed again. Li knew she probably wanted to be left alone, but she shouldn't be. He ran up the stairs to her room, and knocked on the door. "Why didn't I take the elevator?" Li panted. Sakura opened the door. "Li!" Sakura invited Li in.

"Li, I'm really sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to snap at you like that." Sakura apologized. She poured Li some tea. "It's okay. Do you want to talk about it?" Li asked. (Oh, what an original line. I've never heard that one before.) Sakura took a deep breath. "Well, not really." Sakura took the teapot back to the kitchen. "I thought girls were supposed to start complaining about all there problems when a guy asks them that." Li whispered to himself. Sakura walked back in. "It's just that, I feel like.... like I'm loosing Madison just like I lost my mom. I know it's silly." Sakura looked at the picture of her mother on the wall. Li made the 'oh no this is getting deep, she'll want me to say something supportive' look. It was a funny look and Sakura laughed when she saw Li's face. "Ummmmm, don't worry. You can still talk to Madison and visit her. You're not loosing her." Li said hoping he said the right thing. Sakura nodded. "I know, I was just being paranoid. Thanks. I really needed to talk about it." Sakura said and kissed Li on the cheek. "What are boyfriends for?" Li asked. (Did I mention they've been dating for a few years.) "I'm just glad I have one last week with my best!" Sakura said starting to cheer up.

Just then the phone rang. "Hello?" Sakura picked it up. "What? Oh, yeah, that's okay. I totally understand." Sakura's smile disappeared. Sakura hung up the phone. "What's wrong?" Li asked. "She's leaving tomorrow!" Sakura whined. Li frowned, "Back to square one." Li thought to himself.

Madison paced, back and forth, back and forth at the airport. "Oh, where is she?" Madison looked at her watch. The plane to America would leave soon. Sakura still wasn't there to see her off. "She said she would be here."

"Oh no!" Sakura screamed as she banged her car. Her car didn't work. "NO! NO! NO! Madison will leave soon!" Sakura started to cry in frustration. Just in the nick of time Li pulled up. "Sakura, Madison called, c'mon! Get in!" Li called to her. Sakura smiled and jumped in.

Li sped down the road. He was almost at the airport when he was pulled over. "Oh, ****!" Li told Sakura to run, go the rest of the way on foot. Sakura ran as fast as she could, and she could run fast. (We know that from seeing her in a few episodes.) Sakura ran into the airport.

"All passengers going to New York, please go to the gate now." The speaker announced. Madison sighed sadly and headed for the plane. Sakura could see Madison, she started calling out her name franticly. Madison looked behind her to see none other then her best friend running towards her.

"Sakura, you came!" Madison hugged her friend. "Oh Madison, I'm sorry I'm late! You have to call me the minute you get there!" Sakura said. Madison nodded, "I'll write you every day, don't worry. Sakura I am sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you or let you down. This is just a big opportunity for me." Sakura shook her head. "Don't be sorry. I understand. It's not like we're never going to talk or see each other again. Plus, I wouldn't want to deprive you of anything. I'm so happy for you, I really am!" Sakura said hugging her friend again. "Sakura, you know that song I played the night I told you I was leaving, well that's dedicated to you. It's our song. A symbol of our friendship." Madison said.

Madison and Sakura said their good byes and then Madison got on the plane and flew away. Sakura stared out the airport window smiling. She knew Madison and her would be friends forever!

A/N: Okay, again, this was written when I was only 11 years old. Give me a break! ^^;
